ARENA

This is an authentic Swiss Alpine mountain hut at 1700 meters, traditionally used by hunters when they couldn't return to their village at night. Up here we leave civilization behind. Note that the hut cannot be rented exclusively.

 

The hut has wool blankets, pillows, 30 floor mattresses in one room, a toilet, and a dining room with fireplace and kitchen including running water and gas stove. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag! There is cellphone reception and just enough electricity to power 2 small lights and charge your phone.

RIBIA

This is an authentic Swiss Alpine mountain hut at 2000 meters. Note that the hut cannot be rented exclusively.

 

The hut has wool blankets, pillows, 12 floor mattresses in one room, a toilet, and a dining room with fireplace and kitchen including running water and gas stove. You will need to bring your sleeping bag! There is cellphone reception and just enough electricity to power 2 small lights and charge your phone.

SALEI

This is a Swiss Alpine mountain hut at 1777 meters is staffed by Ilenia and Gianluca, who prepare wonderful meals for their guests from May to October.

The hut has wool blankets, pillows, 12 floor mattresses in two rooms, a toilet, and a dining room with fireplace. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag! There is cellphone reception at the cable car station just 300 meters away. There just enough electricity to power some lights and charge your phone.

MONFRACCHIO

This Italian Alpine mountain hut at 1072 meters is over the border from the Onsernone Valley's last village, Spruga.

The hut has wool blankets, pillows, 22 floor mattresses, a toilet, and a dining room with fireplace and kitchen including running water and gas stove. You will need to bring your sleeping bag! There is no cellphone reception and just enough electricity to power small lights and charge your phone.
